In Hebrew year 1235, Kenan died at the age of 905. He was followed by Mehalal-EL who died at the age of 895 in Hebrew year 1290. During this generation, the Fertile Crescent was mostly ruled by the city-state of Ebla, identified near the present site of Tell-Mardikh in Northern Syria.
