Hebrew years 1200 to 1320 (2560-2440 BCE)

In Hebrew year 1235, Kenan died at the age of 905. He was followed by Mehalal-EL who died at the age of 895 in Hebrew year 1290.

During this generation, the Fertile Crescent was mostly ruled by the city-state of Ebla, identified near the present site of Tell-Mardikh in Northern Syria. Ebla was a pagan society but they had kept the knowledge that the world was created from one Lord:

Lord of heaven and earth
the earth was not, you created it,
the light of the day was not, you created it,
the morning light you had not [yet] made exist.
--- Pettinato, Giovanni, The Archives of Ebla, An Empire Inscribed in Clay, New York, 1981, page 244

The knowledge and existence of the original Creator was somehow transmitted from generation to generation during these pre-Flood societies.
